‘Smile’ my tribute to Zoe I smile because Zoe was my friend. She was fiercely loyal, trustworthy, supportive, kind and caring, if I needed her she’d be there I smile because of all the fun and laughter we shared through the years I smile because we would laugh at things we really shouldn’t have I smile because she walked beside me in life and I know she will continue to do so I smile because of the memories I have, like when we went camping to Anglesey in the eye of a storm and the wet ground sheet smacked Zoe in the face and the tent nearly blew away like a hot air balloon! I think it’s fair to say the camping life was not for her!!! Like a lot of funny stories you often have to be there so I won’t share them all with you but they’re in my heart and mind forever. I smile because she was a great boss. Fair, fun and hardworking. We had some fabulous times working together, we looked after each other. It was in those early days she told me we’d be friends forever and she was right. I smile at all the white wine Saturdays we had when we would put the world to rights and the one time we were going to the Christmas markets but didn’t see any of them once we’d started chatting we just stayed put! I smile because we laughed about so many things and would often reminisce about our funny adventures and laugh at them all over again and again I smile because I can hear her laugh I smile because she could chat as easily to Craig as she could to me and she simply adored Jarrod. She loved spending time with him and taking him out for trips and sleepovers from him being young. She would have loved to buy him his first legal pint and would have had great delight winding me up as she lead him astray. I smile because she was a fabulous listener and she really cared what I had to say I smile because she was so proud of her career achievements I smile when I think of her excitement at moving to London and all our adventures there I smile because Zoe’s life was our blessing and she will never be forgotten As we celebrate Zoe’s life today I invite you all to think of all the reasons that Zoe made you smile too Afterglow I’d like the memory of me To be a happy one I’d like to leave an afterglow Of smiles when day is done. I’d like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, To dry before the sun Of happy memories I leave Behind – when day is done
I will miss your laugh and never having dinner again, god bless my friend and thank you. Peter Copperwheat.x
